'Duty of Care'
Since April 1992, Section 34 of the Environmental Protection
Act 1990, has imposed a 'Duty of Care' on producers, carriers
and disposers of Sanitary waste. This legal requirement demands
that sanitary waste is correctly managed to the point of disposal.
Waste must be carried within the law by a registered carrier,
and an audit trail of documentation must be available at all
times.
Failure to comply could lead to a fine, or even imprisonment.
