We are a Duty of Care: Controlled
Waste Transfer registered company under the Waste and Contaminated
Land (Northern Ireland) Order (Article 5)
The buty of care requires that you ensure all waste is stored
and disposed on legally, that it is only handled or dealt
with by individuals or companies that are authorised to deal
with it and that a record is kept of all waste received or
transferred through a system of signed Waste Transfer Notes
(WTN).
Normally a WTN must be created for each load of waste that
leaves your site. All sections of the WTN must be completed
and both you and the waste carrier should sign the WTN before
it leaves your site. Yuo and the carrier of the waste must
keep a copy of the note for at least 2 years for the wastes
to be handled safely and within the law and must be made available
for inspection by Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) staff.
Failure to do so can result in prosecution.
A 'season ticket' can be used for reptitive transfers. This
can cover multiple transfers over a given period of time of
up to 12 months. The use of a season ticket is however only
permissable where parties involved in each transfer do not
change and where the description of the waste transferred
remains the same.
To comply with the Duty of Care a waste producer should carry
out periodic checks to ensure their waste is handled and disposed
of legally.
All parties have a responsibility to ensure that the waste
is passed on safely to a licensed location. Where there is
any suspicion that this is not the case EHS should be contacted
immediately.
